Elusive squirrel vs Boomer

Ok, so Boomer and the squirrel were at it again this weekend.  They were at this position...

(side note, I have no clue why it won't post pictures like they are saved) for most of the day today.  You'll notice the squirrel at the top middle of the picture out on the branch.  Here's a closer look of the squirrel and Boomer:

He even points!  I don't think Boomer has a clue what he'll do if he even gets a hold of the squirrel.

On another note, I have a new activity to keep me busy here in Iowa.  I am helping coach a minor league softball team in Eddyville, IA.  The team is called the "Frogs", and there are 10 10 year olds on the team.  Tom (I work with him) and his wife Shelly are coaching (their daughter is on the team) and I volunteered to help out.  We have practice every Tuesday and Thursday.  I think that it will be a lot of fun.  We had our fist practice last Thursday.  I'll keep you updated on the schedule and games as they come.  It will be quite different than coaching the 5th and 6th grade girls volleyball team in College Station, seeing that volleyball was more my sport than softball.  But, I can still throw and catch the ball.  :)

I just got finished watching Baylor beat Green Bay.  Too bad Green Bay didn't beat them.  Now A&M has to play Baylor for the 4th time this season!  It's going to be a great game.  I'll wear my maroon on Tuesday!

I guess that is all for now.  I would have a countdown clock to when I get to come home for Easter, but I'm having the hardest time putting it up on my page.  I think this is one of the longest stretches that I've been away from home in a VERY long time.  I'm just excited to get to see my family.  Stacy and Blaine are picking me up at the airport.  And, I get to eat at PMR!!  (The one time I ate Mexican Food here in Iowa was not a good experience.  The menu had "Let us introduce you to Mexican Food" on the front.  Plus, I got sick at 3 am.)

This week should be an interesting week at work.  The USDA Planting Intentions report comes out on Thursday.  It will be interesting to see what that says and how many acres of corn will be planted this year.  If it comes in on the low side, the next 6 months will be very interesting.

And, let's hope we get a warm up soon.  We haven't been too much above freezing all weekend.  We even had snow on Friday!  Of course it was gone by the end of the day, but it is the end of March!!  I can tell you that snow has lost it's shine for me.

Until next time...

Hasta

  1. Woo Hoo! So excited to hear from up north! Sorry about the snow. It was cold here this morning - 64 degrees. Brrrrr... Boomer looks very focused. I'm impressed with his skills! And good luck with the 10 year olds. Sounds like fun! Just be sure to duck when they throw the ball!
